A number I first heard about a year ago, and vowed to learn. With a little help from a man named Lyle, I evntually learned it, and tabbed out my version. Nice up-tempo number in Old-D (aDADE) for some fiddler support.
A tune I recently started learning after hearing it played by a Cornish Banjo player. It's got that Irish/Jig feel to it and a little bit of up-the-neck melody too, and it's quite a simple tune to master that sounds good. Open C tuning, which makes it a little different to my usual stuff. I couldn't find a tab, so I did one in TG!
An Irish Polka tune. In 4/4 time here but can be played 'cut time' if you really like. Old-D (Double C capo'd 2) tuning. Slightly altered from normal as I struggled with the original B Part. So I made it a bit more straight forward.
My current work in progress! I'm learning this in Old-D tuning (Double C capo'd 2 frets). Nice tune with some new chord positions to learn in Double C, so good all-round there. Add in a fair amount of drop/double thumbing and it's an excellent practice piece!
A fairly well-known tune, recorded many times over the years, and pretty easy to get sounding good. Some timing challenges in this for the Newbie Banjoist, but straight forward chord positions. Play in G-tuning or (like I do) capo up to A.
Song of 'The Outlaw Josey Wales' fame. Nice old tune with lots of practice for left and right hands.
One of the few Sawmill tunes I regularly practice. I don't know why, but I find sawmill a bit melancholy. Nice tune. Credit to Mike Iverson (I think?) for the arrangement.
Nice Old-Timey Tune, which is fun to play. Lots of left hand practice with this one.
Nice tune that most people know. There's some hammer-ons and slides for a bit of fun, but not necessary unless you feel the need. In standard G tuning too!
A Nice simple tune I found tabbed out by Tony Spadaro (excuse the spelling) in his Rocket Science Banjo Course (Highly recommended for beginners and experienced too!) In Old-D (or Double-C) tuning - just excellent to practice your clawhammer technique.
