Wrote this in the car. my brother wrote the chords for the acoustic part, and the whole song is basically a solo. I named it after my awesome girlfriend.

i'm sorry to say this dude but that solo wasn't very good. it progressively got better which is a great quality in a solo but overall it was just a decent solo. you just shifted to rapidly between melodic lines and faster lines. slow the progression down. best example would be "The Best of Times" by Dream Theater. That solo is the perfect blend and, IMO, the perfect solo. Hope the best for you and your awesome girlfriend :)
This song is written in the style of a solo, but when I wrote it, I wasnt trying to make it like a crazy solo or anything. It was supposed to me pretty smooth. And that Dream Theater solo is very good, but in listening to it again, I can tell that we have differing favorite styles of music. But yeah, I realize this isnt great, but I was more just trying to write a "long" solo-type section, so i purposely didnt make anything too crazy. I think the fastest notes are 16th note triplets at 120bpm, and those are just in short bursts.
oh i understand. not every solo has to be great. just fitting. most solos are used as fillers to the climactic last chorus. others are the climax and those MUST be great. and you didn't have to make it crazy. Jessica by the Allman Bros isn't crazy at all but it is smooth. when making a solo as the spotlight of the song it has to be smooth. The solo I said is great because it transitions from melodic-technical-shred-melodic seamlessly. It has to be a smooth transition
I think it was beautiful smlint. It was very fitting to the mood of the song, and it kept me interested. I thought it was pretty smooth, too.
